Libertarian Party Platform

  1. Second Amendment: We believe in the right that every U.S citizen has the right to own a firearm for self defence. However, some people and a few of our opponents believe that there should be less guns. Imagine someone walking home late after a long shift at work. Now say someone twice as big as them attacks them. The victim would have less of a chance of winning the fight. Now say the victim has a firearm. The victim’s chances of winning and possibly avoiding the fight would increase. If gun rights were taken away, it wouldn’t lower acts of violence or deaths it would only make the death rate of violent crimes to go up. If criminals know that people had less ways to protect themselves with then more crimes would be committed and more people would be victims of violent crimes.

  1. Immigration: We welcome them, we want them to live a better life. We respect their dedication to come to the U.S. and proud they see the United States as a place of freedom. However if they have a criminal record, we must deny their entry or deport them and if they come in through the proper means.

  2. Abortion: We believe that abortion is a very touchy topic and people on both sides have good views. We think that the government should keep out of the matter, leaving the question for the person to consider.
  3. War on drugs: We believe the war on drugs is ineffective. The war on drugs doesn’t stop the production, smuggling and trading of illegal drugs. The war on drugs also takes police man power away from investigating more violent crimes. More people are arrested for possession and dealing even though some who possess an illegal substance ( not counting dealers ) have never committed any type of violent crime. It is better to treat drugs as a illness that needs to be treated instead of treating victims of drugs as criminals.
  4. Economy: We believe in Reducing and eliminating taxes to promote innovation and job creation and with more jobs being introduced or countries economy will raise.
